The Search is On

We’re halfway through 2026 and things are heating up. Environmental Media Works has opened the Call for Nominations for this year’s Enviro Icon. We’re searching for respected individuals who have made a lasting impact on an ecological sector. Enviro Icons are keystones of our environmental foundation with rock-solid reputations for doing right by our natural world. Anyone can nominate a potential icon; maybe this year’s recipient will come from you!

Environmental icons can come from academia, activism, conservation, municipal, industrial, scientific, private and public sectors.  They could be animal rights activists, chemists, conservation officers, ecologists, engineers, environmental scientists, game wardens, geologists, planners, politicians, professors, public health officials, rangers, recyclers, sanitation workers, sewerage treatment plant operators, teachers, workers from solid waste transfer stations and landfills, wastewater plant staff, wildlife biologists, or nearly anyone else who has made significant environmental contributions.

Nominations should include the candidate’s full name, the city and state where they reside, position and place of work, the reason(s) why they are iconic, and the nominator’s name and contact information. We may reach out for more information.
